The six-time world rally champion has agreed with Toyota Gazoo Racing to compete in the WRC 2020 season behind the wheel of the Yaris WRC Plus with which Ott Tänak won the 2019 World Rally Championship, recovering with interest (one race early ) what had been taken from Ogier the year before.
The choice of Ogier in Toyota and out of the team with which he raced and won so much comes (almost obvious) after a season in which the results were disastrous for a team like Citroen and almost never was the responsibility of the pilots. Mechanical and understanding problems sometimes in the team and sometimes with suppliers have worn down the reports to the point of no return. The intervention of Ogier's wife on social media was the last straw.
Take note of the defeat in Citroen, one of the most important French manufacturers that have been involved in the WRC for years and with a significant amount of world titles and world champions behind them, and the executives decide that the next World Rally Championship has not to do. And so, unfortunately, it will be. The PSA Group giant, which has just purchased FCA, will not participate in the WRC 2020.
